As an international student studying Mental Health & Counseling at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago, I am approaching the final year of my study. I would like to use a different perspective to understand better and remember this city where I will be staying for three years, through running.
Running with Erika's Lighthouse
Teenage depression thrives in isolation. It feeds on silence. It lives in the darkness. That's why we're dedicated to light, to conversation, and to community.
I am incredibly grateful to have connected with Erika's Lighthouse, an organization committed to improving adolescent mental health. Its mission is to ensure that no young person feels alone in their struggle with depression. Erika's Lighthouse is dedicated to creating a community of empathy and education. With nearly twenty years of experience as a youth worker, I hope to make this run even more meaningful by raising funds for this organization.
This will be my first attempt at a full marathon. Previously, I completed a half marathon in Chengdu, China, before wrapping up an eight-year project there. Although I'm not particularly sporty, I find solace in running. It has been instrumental in coping with feelings of depression. I encourage you to show your support for me with the cost of a cup of coffee or more if you are available.
