Lana was just 15 months old when she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in June 2024. Her family had heard incredible things about the hematology and oncology team at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital, and with it being only 30 minutes from home, they knew it was the right place for her care. Throughout seven months of inpatient treatment, Lana’s family says they were continuously uplifted by the kindness, compassion, and expertise of everyone they encountered from the doctors and nurses to housekeeping, registration, and nutrition staff. “It is never easy going through a cancer diagnosis and treatment with your child, but feeling like you have a team of people that truly care and that become like family makes it easier to bear. I always felt like Lana was in good hands and that everyone had our backs.”

Today, Lana is thriving and continues monthly follow-ups with oncology. Her family is filled with gratitude for the village at St. Joe’s that carried them through one of life’s toughest journeys.
