Eight-year-old Sarah from Lakeland, Florida, is one of St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital’s inspiring Spotlight Patients for this year’s Christmas in July fundraising drive. Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at just four years old, Sarah has faced more challenges than most children her age. After moving to Florida, her family found hope and healing at St. Joseph’s, where the incredible gastroenterologists, surgeons and care team provided life-saving treatment. In 2024, Sarah underwent a total colectomy and thanks to the compassionate support of nurses and Child Life Services, she felt safe and loved every step of the way. Now, Sarah is giving back by helping raise funds and awareness to bring joy to other young patients. Her strength and smile remind us all why this fundraiser matters—because every child deserves comfort, care, and a little Christmas magic, even in July.
