What's our tie to Canine Companions? I'm so glad you asked! Hi, I'm Kristen Parkhurst. As the CEO of Shaggy Chic Pet Services here in Houston, TX, my team and I pursue continuing education in order to best serve our clients. Both myself and team lead, Trisha, have certifications from Duke University's Dog Behavior and Cognition course, taught by the one and only Brian Hare - who happens to be a professor at Duke and director of the Duke Canine Cognition Center, where his research and testing with Duke Puppy Kindergarten pinpoints the right candidates for the service dogs that Canine Companions moves forward with. ISN'T THAT INCREDIBLE?! I've also read his books The Genius of Dogs and Survival of The Friendliest and am such a huge fan of his entire body of work.
