I'm honored to be participating as a Champion in the 2025 Fighting for Firsts Campaign, a fundraiser supporting Healthier Moms and Babies!

Healthier Moms and Babies is a Fort Wayne-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting mothers and their babies across northeast Indiana—from pregnancy and delivery through the crucial early years of a child’s life. Their impact is far-reaching, offering mentorship, in-home visits, lifestyle and parenting classes, mental health screening and therapy, as well as essential supplies like formula, safe sleep kits, and diapers. In 2024 alone, they celebrated 356 births and 384 first birthdays—a testament to the lives they are nurturing and supporting.

The need is real. Allen County had one of the highest premature birth rates in Indiana, 12% in 2024. But among families served by Healthier Moms and Babies, that rate dropped to just 6%. That’s the power of comprehensive, compassionate care—and exactly what this campaign is fighting for.

As a family physician in Fort Wayne, I care for newborns every day. I’ve seen firsthand how life-changing these resources can be for moms and their babies. With the right support, we can give more families the healthy start they deserve.

My first fundraising goal is to raise $2,500, but I’m hopeful we can surpass that with your help. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference. The campaign runs through November 5, 2025, so there’s plenty of time to join the effort and make an impact.
