I have been a part of Friends of Barnabas since my first mission trip in 2004. I remember thinking on that first trip that I would be returning the next year. And so it has been nearly every year since. January will mark my 22nd trip. Why do I go? I have seen the good Friends of Barnabas has done in central Honduras. I have seen the organization grow and evolve into an organization that not only sends mission groups every month of the year, but also teaches and enables Hondurans to care for their own. I see the dedication of our Honduran staff and my fellow team members, and have been witness to the positive results and improving health in the villages we serve. Simply put, I want to continue to be a part of it. And I need your help. Each team has a goal of $11,500 to cover the cost of medications and supplies we need to care for the families of the communities we serve.
Your donation will help our Mountain Medical Team provide general medical, dental, and vision care to children and families who have limited or no access to healthcare. We will also provide vitamins, fluoride, and anti-parasite medications and referrals for follow up care for children in need. Our team will also identify children with special needs that FOB staff will follow up with in the weeks following the team’s clinics. The FOB staff also provide on-going education and support to the communities that the team will visit, meaning that the medical clinics you are supporting are a part of sustainable, community-wide empowerment.
