At 7 days postpartum I developed a headache and high blood pressure. I was given anti-anxiety and blood pressure prescriptions and sent home. The next day I had more, severe, symptoms of pre-eclampsia and was admitted to labor and delivery from the emergency room. After a 24 hour magnsieum drip and more medications, I was getting better! Recent research suggest that 75% of preeclampsia related deaths happen in the postpartum period, so awareness and vigilance is particular important for new moms, even those with no risk factors.
