In memory of my dad, I am participating in a virtual run through the ECD Alliance this July. Erdheim Chester Disease is an ultra rare form of blood cancer, with only about 1500 documented cases worldwide since it was first discovered in 1930. 

My dad was diagnosed with ECD in 2017 and recently suffered an aggressive immune response called HLH that he did not survive. Unfortunately, none of the providers he saw while he was in the hospital knew anything about ECD. This is a common occurrence and many patients often get misdiagnosed as a result.
