When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2018, I hit rock bottom, not knowing who to turn to nor where to go. I was introduced to the Wellness House from my hospital and got involved straight away.
2025 marks six years since I completed chemotherapy and my surgery making me cancer-free! So, I guess you can call this my “Cancerversary”.
Participating and raising money for this walk is such a small token that I can do for the huge amount of love and support I received and continue to receive from the Wellness House. There is not ever a cost to anyone!
The big "C" is a very scary, life-changing journey. Even after all my major treatments have been completed, there isn’t a day that cancer doesn’t cross my mind. The Wellness House had been a sanctuary for me, as well as for my family with the multitude of support, educational and wellness programs that they provide. At the time, it put me back in control! It's a place where I felt safe and welcomed and felt comfortable to embrace the journey that has been laid out for me. Today, I still utilize programs and classes they offer and value the work they continue to do for so many.
So, join my team! Walk with me! And help me to support an organization that has been my rock and that of so many local people and their families who have been affected by cancer who find solitude at the Wellness House!
