Riding for ASXL research

Hudson’s Handlebar Heroes is a grassroots, family-led cycling effort created to honor and remember Hudson while raising funds for ASXL-related disorder research through the ARRE Foundation. In 2026, the team will take on the 24 Hours of Riverside, a nonstop 24-hour bike race at Riverside State Park in Spokane, Washington, on May 23, with a growing team that includes three new riders.

Beyond race day, Hudson’s Handlebar Heroes is expanding into a local community movement. Plans for 2026 include a north Spokane club ride and more local races and events. Each mile ridden helps keep Hudson’s memory at the center of a loving effort to advance research, care, and hope for families affected by ASXL-related disorders.

In its inaugural year, Hudson’s Handlebar Heroes rode 200 miles in the Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic, raising more than $20,000 in 2025 for research into ASXL-related disorders through community support and personal fundraising efforts.

All funds raised benefit the ARRE Foundation, a family-led, 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to education and research for ASXL-related disorders.

About Hudson

Hudson Curtis was born with Bohring-Opitz Syndrome, an ultra-rare neurodevelopmental disorder, but despite the challenges he faced from birth, Hudson’s strength and spirit inspired everyone around him. During his time in the NICU and at home, he demonstrated remarkable resilience, showing his family the true meaning of love and perseverance.

Though Hudson's life was short, his impact was profound, and his legacy continues to inspire.

What your contribution supports

ARRE Foundation: Advancing research for ASXL-related disorders

About the ARRE Foundation

The ASXL Rare Research Endowment (ARRE) Foundation is a family-led patient advocacy organization focused on advancing knowledge and understanding of ASXL-related disorders (Bohring-Opitz Syndrome, Shashi-Pena Syndrome, and Bainbridge-Ropers Syndrome) with the goal of developing effective therapies and medical interventions.

We are raising funds for research, building and continuously expanding the network of clinicians and scientists who are committed to studying the ASXL genes and their associated disorders, developing resources for clinicians and parents to improve clinical outcomes, and facilitating collaborations among health professionals who have experience treating ASXL syndromes.

From research grants for scientists to educational events for families, your gift to the ARRE Foundation is supporting a brighter future full of knowledge and hope.

The ARRE Foundation (Tax ID 82-3890665) is a family-led, 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to education and research for ASXL-related disorders. All contributions are tax deductible in the United States to the fullest extent of the law.
