Stepping Up for Our Neighbors: Volunteering at the APDA MA Walk
Welcome to my page for the APDA Massachusetts Optimism Walk!
If you know me, you know my heart is deeply rooted in the Parkinson's community. My sister Alicia and I founded Team Golomboski back in 2014 with one vital mission: to honor our dad, Joseph Sr., and support him through his fight with Early On-Set Parkinson's Disease. Since losing him in 2019, keeping his incredible fighting spirit alive has been my daily motivation.
That drive is what led me to serve as the President of the APDA Rhode Island Chapter Board of Directors and Chair of the RI Walk Committee. In Rhode Island, Team Golomboski has proudly raised over $20,000 over the years. But the fight against Parkinson's disease doesn't stop at the state line.
For the past few years, I have expended my support by crossing over to Massachusetts. While my usual role involves fiercely fundraising and organizing, my primary focus for the MA Walk is volunteering my time to help. I know firsthand exactly how much behind-the-scenes work goes into making these walks successful, and stepping up to lend a hand to our neighboring chapter is just another way to honor my dad's legacy.
Even though I am focusing on rolling up my sleeves and working the event rather than hitting a massive personal fundraising target here in MA, every single dollar still makes a crucial difference. The funds raised for the APDA provide:
