Name of your favorite teacher and what made the person special to you (any grade level, including college):  Throughout my education, I was fortunate to learn from several impactful teachers, including Mr. Hobbs in elementary school, Mrs. Bruney in high school, Dr. Leyden during my undergraduate studies, and Mrs. Stewart. However, the teacher who most influenced me as an educator was Dr. Richard Ambrose at Kent State University. During graduate school, I was part of a cohort of early childhood educators focused on reflective teaching—a process that involves critically examining one’s teaching practices by questioning what works, what doesn’t, and why. Dr. Ambrose incorporated strategies such as reflective journaling, teaching logs, and peer observations, which helped me better understand my assumptions and instructional decisions. These practices became a foundational part of my approach to teaching.

What were some of your most enjoyable times in school (any grade level): I would hire a financial advisor after high school to help establish a strong financial foundation and develop healthy habits early on, such as budgeting, managing debt, and investing. Having professional guidance would also allow me to create a personalized plan for achieving long-term financial goals while helping me avoid poor financial decisions early in life.

Looking back over the years, what advice would you give to your high school self or college self: One of the biggest highlights was my senior year in high school when our team won the city championship. The sense of pride and accomplishment we all felt made that moment unforgettable. Because of experiences like that, football season has always remained special to me, and I still look forward to it each year as I cheer on the Ohio State Buckeyes football.

The reason(s) you are raising funds to support Project GRAD Akron ’s scholarships and programs: I believe every student deserves access to quality education and the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their financial circumstances. These programs provide essential resources, guidance, and financial support that help students stay on track academically and pursue higher education. By contributing, I hope to make a positive impact on students’ futures and help empower the next generation to achieve their goals.
