Name of your favorite teacher and what made the person special to you (any grade level, including college): Brother Bob Fillmore, Archbishop Hoban High School. Brother Bob was a caring individual who showed me what being a supportive individual looked like. I have never forgotten the kindness he showed me and have often thought in the years since about his actions and how they impacted the person I am today.
What were some of your most enjoyable times in school (any grade level): Grade school at Our Lady of the Elms provided a lot of fun experiences including plays, family events (picnic in the gym), science fairs and gym class which was always a highlight. For high school, I loved Archbishop Hoban High School and playing on the girls tennis team all four years and senior Mum Day. School was often a challenge for me as I faced several learning disabilities, but looking back Hoban also provided me with tutors who gave me the support I needed. Mrs. Nine, my favorite tutor, always kept me laughing while learning.
Looking back over the years, what advice would you give to your high school self or college self: Say yes to every opportunity. There are times when you think you need to have your life planned out, but it will change. Be adaptable to the change - the good and the bad.
The reason(s) you are raising funds to support Project GRAD Akron ’s scholarships and programs: I have been fortunate to have a good education and access to opportunities. The work Project GRAD Akron does to help Akron Public Schools students is important and needs to be continued for their success and our community's success.
