Name of your favorite teacher and what made the person special to you (any grade level, including college): My favorite professor was Mr. Johnson. He had a major impact on my college experience and future goals. Mr. Johnson was not only an excellent professor, but also a mentor who truly cared about his students and wanted to see them succeed.  One of the biggest reasons he became my favorite professor was because he helped me obtain my graduate assistantship at The University of Akron.  He believed in my abilities and encouraged me to pursue opportunities that would help me grow academically and professionally. His guidance and support opened doors that helped shape my future.  I will always appreciate the encouragement, wisdom, and opportunities Mr. Johnson provided for me. His influence made a lasting impact on my educational journey and personal success.

What were some of your most enjoyable times in school (any grade level):  Some of my most memorable times in school were the moments I spent building friendships, participating in school activities, and reaching important milestones. I especially remember the excitement of attending football games, school dances, and other after school events where everyone came together and created lasting memories.  I also cherish the friendships and connections I made throughout school. Study sessions, late-night conversations, group projects, and celebrating accomplishments together created bonds and memories that I will never forget. School was not only a place for learning, but also a place where I grew personally, and prepared for my future.

Looking back over the years, what advice would you give to your high school self or college self: If I could give advice to my high school or college self, I would start by saying to trust the process and stop worrying so much about having everything figured out right away. Life doesn’t unfold on a perfect timeline, and a lot of growth happens in the moments that feel uncertain or uncomfortable. I would also emphasize the importance of consistency over perfection. It’s better to keep showing up, even when things are difficult, than to wait for the “perfect” moment or outcome. Small, steady effort adds up more than occasional bursts of motivation. Another piece of advice would be to take more opportunities and not let fear of failure hold me back. Some of the best experiences and connections come from simply saying yes and trying something new, even when you’re unsure of the result. Lastly, I would remind myself to appreciate the journey and the people along the way. Teachers, mentors, friends, and experiences all play a role in shaping who you become, and those moments often matter more than you realize at the time.

The reason(s) you are raising funds to support Project GRAD Akron ’s scholarships and programs: The reason I am raising money for the Project GRAD Akron program is to help support students in our community by expanding access to educational opportunities and resources that prepare them for success after high school. This program plays an important role in encouraging academic achievement, providing guidance, and helping students stay on track toward graduation and higher education. My goal in supporting this cause is to give back to the community and help ensure that more students have the encouragement, tools, and opportunities they need to succeed academically and in life.
