Name of your favorite teacher and what made the person special to you (any grade level, including college): My 3rd grade teacher Mrs. Smith. She was kind, attentive, and was creative in making our class fun to be and learn in. She held me accountable with my school work, through constant correspondence with my mother, and poured into me, taking the time to observe my learning style which allowed me thrive and do well during my elementary school years.
What were some of your most enjoyable times in school (any grade level): During elementary school it was being on the Safety Patrol team. Visits from the beekeeper lady and choir concerts.
Jr. High- Being a member of the Concert Choir and Drama Club and receiving the Athlete of the Year and Perfect Attendance awards.
High School- Earning my varsity letters in football, track, and wrestling. Pre-game Pep Rallies.
Looking back over the years, what advice would you give to your high school self or college self: Take school, and all that comes with it (good, bad, ugly, seriously. It's all to prepare your launch to navigate through life after school. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
The reason(s) you are raising funds to support Project GRAD Akron ’s scholarships and programs: I come from a Juvenile Corrections background, where punishment and negative consequences are the first approach to youth issues. This is my part to participate in a fun positive approach to encourage and support hard working youth toward college.
