Hi everyone!  This Saturday September 5th, I will be participating in the Bleeding Disorders Walk to help raise money for the bleeding disorders community in Rochester. All proceeds from this event help me and other people like me by going directly to supporting patient programs and services throughout the year.

Rochester native Mary Gooley founded the Center in 1959. It is the only Hemophilia Treatment Center in the Rochester region, which also treats patients with von Willebrand disease and other rare bleeding disorders. 

Over the years, there have been amazing advances in medical technology that has transformed severe bleeding disorders from devastating diseases causing severe disability and hardship to conditions that have become very manageable with the right treatments and medications. However, there is still a long way to go. Hemophilia is one of the most expensive medical conditions to treat and patients with bleeding disorders still face many obstacles to care.

The Mary M. Gooley Hemophilia Center has gained national attention because of its comprehensive care model. The Center also participates in several national research endeavors aimed at improving the lives of people with bleeding disorders.
