Bra Description:
As a young girl, I remember going shopping with my mother and grandmother. What I remember hearing is, “Having a good supportive bra that fits properly is important.” Shopping for clothes typically took place at discount department stores. These were large stores often found in strip malls. The aesthetics of these stores were similar in that upon entering a shopping cart was taken, above were elevated ceilings with drop down fluorescent lights, linoleum like square tiles on the floor, frequent announcements of lost children followed by the location of the current blue light special. The purchase of a bra was different. This took place in a department store. In most cases these stores had at least two levels, escalators, elevators, softer fluorescent lighting, quieter, a mix of linoleum tiled floors and low-level carpet. A specialist would assist you to determine your size and offer a selection to choose from.
Much attention is given to how a bra looks, both on its own and beneath clothing. Bras now come in many colors, fabrics, textures, shapes, and sizes, with styles ranging from practical to ornate. Yet their core purposes remain unchanged: providing coverage, protection, support, lift, comfort, confidence, modesty, and options for maternity and athletic use. As girls mature, they observe their changing bodies, look forward to buying a first “training bra,” and wonder what size they may eventually wear. For generations, women’s outward appearance has been ranked as a top priority.
Caring for our outward appearance matters, but so does nurturing our inner well-being—our soul, our inner garden. Like a garden of plants and flowers, our bodies need nourishment, water, love, and attention. Our souls also need the joy, love, and happiness that come from meaningful activities. Tending this inner garden strengthens our well-being and supports a healthy immune system. Because fulfillment is personal, begin by doing what you love and loving what you do, even if only for a few minutes at a time.
The purpose of this bra titled, “Inner Garden” is to gain your attention. To consider what you will be nurturing in your own inner garden and what your top priorities are. Thinking about what feeds your soul, caring for yourself as well as the people you care for, your happiness and well-being. And go in once a year for your mammogram so if an unwanted weed is discovered, you can nip it in the bud.
