Our family is one of thousands who are volunteer puppy raisers for Canine Companions.
Canine Companions provides expertly trained service dogs to adults, children and veterans with disabilities FREE of charge.
The Canine Companions process is like this:
- adorable puppies are raised, socialized, and trained to basics by volunteer families (like ours)
- at about 1.5 years, they go off to service dog university
- graduates get matched with people in need who have applied
- dog and human train together at Canine Companions to ensure success
- dogs serve for up to 8 years
- dogs retire in glory, having made a huge positive impact on someone's life
Canine Companions has a dedicated full time professional staff to manage the organization efficiently, but the overall program leverages a huge network of volunteers who help raise, train and care for the dogs during their development.
We've been very impressed with the mission and the impact it has on people's lives.
DogFest Bay Area 2026
We are participating in DogFest Bay Area 2026 because we love dogs and know the joy they bring to our lives each and every day. We are raising money to support the Canine Companions mission. The impact these dogs have on the lives of people with disabilities is incredible.
