A year ago, Canine Companions changed my life when they matched me with Lonestar.

I live with muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis, and for a long time I thought independence meant doing everything by myself. Lonestar has taught me something different.

He retrieves things I drop, opens and closes doors, pulls my laundry basket, helps me through difficult moments, and gives me the confidence to keep showing up for my life. He is so much more than a service dog — he is my teammate.

And Canine Companions provided him to me completely free of charge.

That’s why DogFest means so much to me. Every dollar raised helps make it possible for another person with a disability to experience the independence, confidence and partnership that Lonestar has given me.
