Since 1975, Canine Companions has been changing lives by providing expertly trained service dogs to people with disabilities at no cost. They have placed over 8,000 service and facility dog teams across the country — and I am incredibly proud to say that I hold the leash of one of them.

Before Yodel II ever arrived, she saved a woman’s life.

She gave that woman a reason outside of herself to keep fighting for a better life — a life without Binge Eating Disorder.  That woman is now over 13 months into recovery.

She saved her.

She saved me.

I am the woman Yodel II saved before she ever even met me.

Sometimes, the hope of a dog can be life-changing. Sometimes, it can be life-saving. And Yodel II? She is all that and a bag of chips.

Now that she is here, I have a beautiful, sweet girl who loves working, who will pick up my phone 8,000 times a day with a wagging tail, and who brings a sense of light into my life that was not there before.

The gratitude I feel toward Canine Companions is indescribable, because there is no simple way to explain the impact of Yodel II’s light.
