My passion for supporting Canine Companions comes from a place of deep gratitude and lived experience. I was incredibly fortunate to be matched with my facility dog, Carrie, through their remarkable program—an organization that not only changes lives but does so at no cost to the people they serve.
Carrie now works alongside me at a Child Advocacy Center, where I am a Licensed Clinicial Social Worker and support children and families navigating some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Her presence brings comfort, regulation, and a sense of safety that simply can’t be replicated. Whether she’s offering gentle companionship during a child's forensic interview, easing anxiety in the waiting room, or supporting a parent after learning about their child's disclosures, Carrie elevates the care we’re able to provide every single day. She is a steady, loving reminder that healing is possible.
What inspires me even more is knowing that while I get to see the impact of a facility dog at work, Canine Companions is also providing highly trained service dogs—completely free of charge—to people with disabilities across the country. Their mission creates independence, confidence, and connection for countless individuals and families.
Supporting Dog Fest means supporting life-changing partnerships like mine with Carrie, and supporting the thousands of people who benefit from these extraordinary dogs. I’m honored to give back to the organization that has given so much to me, to the families I serve, and to communities everywhere.
