The Golden Isles Alzheimer's Walk is a community-wide event dedicated to honoring, supporting, and remembering those affected by Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. Each year, families, friends, caregivers, healthcare professionals, businesses, and community members come together to raise awareness, celebrate loved ones, and support vital services for local families facing the challenges of dementia.
The walk is more than a fundraiser—it is a day of hope, remembrance, education, and community. Participants may walk in honor of someone currently living with dementia, in memory of a loved one who has passed away, or in support of caregivers who provide unwavering love and care every day.
Why We Walk
Alzheimer's disease and other dementias affect thousands of families throughout Coastal Georgia. The emotional, physical, and financial impact can be overwhelming for both individuals diagnosed with dementia and the people who care for them.
Proceeds from the Golden Isles Alzheimer's Walk benefit Memory Matters Glynn, a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to support, educate, and enrich the lives of people dealing with dementia and those who care for them. Funds raised help provide free support groups, counseling services, educational programs, social activities, caregiver respite opportunities, and resources for families throughout Glynn, McIntosh, and surrounding counties.
A portion of the proceeds also supports the Goizueta Alzheimer's Disease Research Center at Emory University, helping advance research toward better treatments and ultimately a cure.

Walking with a team is a wonderful way to celebrate loved ones, support caregivers, and raise awareness. Teams may be formed by families, businesses, churches, civic groups, schools, neighborhoods, healthcare organizations, or groups of friends. Team members can walk together while raising funds and sharing their personal connection to the cause.
