At the beginning of 2020, we found out we were expecting. Unfortunately, a month after we found out, we were expecting we were given devastating news. Our baby was diagnosed with anencephaly - a life-limiting diagnosis. A few weeks later, we discover our baby also has Trisomy 18. Another rare, life-limiting diagnosis.
We chose to continue with our pregnancy journey and make the most out of our time that we had together. On August 14, 2020 at 34 weeks into our time together, Josiah was born an angel.

We fundraise for NFTS because we support in their mission to build berevement suites in hospitals. While we were not in a special suite like this during our time in the hospital with Josiah, our medical team was fantastic and tried their hardest to give us something similiar, and it's because of them that we believe special rooms like this should be in every hospital. A special, secluded room from all of the other birthing suites, that gives the family privacy to grieve, spend time together with their baby for however long they wish while in a cozy environment.
