ABOUT DUSTIN STEWART

Dustin Stewart is Deputy Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs. Formerly, he was Senior Advisor/Director of Regional Affairs in the Office of the Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs. Previously, Mr. Stewart served at the National Security Council (NSC) as the Director for Hostage Affairs in the Counterterrorism Directorate. At the NSC, Mr. Stewart’s primary duties included formulating, coordinating, and implementing response and recovery efforts for U.S. nationals held hostage or wrongfully detained overseas and supporting the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs to develop and advance these efforts. Prior to his assignment at the NSC, Mr. Stewart held management and senior analyst positions focusing on counterterrorism and hostage recovery at the Central Intelligence Agency.  Throughout his career, Mr. Stewart served as a civilian officer at the Office of Naval Intelligence, U.S. Coast Guard, and in the private sector.  Mr. Stewart graduated from Mercyhurst University with a degree in Intelligence Studies.
