A piece of my heart will always be there, and I’m thrilled to share that I'll be returning to serve with the Friends of Barnabas (FOB) Mountain Medical Team. This organization has been close to my heart for years, and now, I'm excited to be part of their mission again to bring medical, dental, and vision care to rural mountain communities.

Since 2000, Friends of Barnabas has been providing healthcare and preventative education to communities in Honduras that have little to no access to basic medical services. I’ll be joining the team in offering general medical, dental, and vision care to children and families who often go without. We’ll also distribute essential medications, including vitamins, fluoride, anti-parasite meds, and provide referrals for follow-up care for those who need it most.

But it’s not just about the clinic days. FOB works to ensure sustainability in these communities. After the team leaves, the FOB staff continues to support and follow up with families—providing education, resources, and empowering them to take control of their own healthcare in the long run.

Each clinic team has a goal of raising $11,500 to cover the cost of medications and supplies. On top of that, each volunteer has a personal contribution of $2,250, which covers travel, meals, and accommodations.

A lot of the medications we provide may seem simple—things like Tylenol for headaches or cough syrup for a child’s cold—but they’re often out of reach for the families we serve. By providing these basic health services, paired with ongoing education, we empower families to improve their own well-being and build stronger, healthier communities.
