Support Mental Health in Maine
Team Nate the Great!
I’m participating in my first NAMI Maine Walk in honor of my brother, Nathan, whom I lost to suicide less than two years ago. His loss changed my life, and this walk is one way I can honor his memory while supporting others who are living with mental illness or grieving a suicide loss.
Maine is facing a serious mental health crisis. Nearly 290,000 adults in our state live with a mental illness, and Maine has the second-highest adult mental illness prevalence in the country. Almost 29% of Maine children have been diagnosed with a mental health condition, ranking the state last nationally for children’s mental health. At the same time, access to care remains dangerously limited: Maine ranks 49th for mental health care access and outcomes, 13,000 people are waiting an average of eight months for treatment, and many rural counties face severe provider shortages.
Behind these numbers are real people—our friends, neighbors, and families—who need help now. When you donate, you’re helping raise awareness, reduce stigma, and expand access to support and resources for Mainers.
NAMI Maine provides education, advocacy, and free support for individuals and families across the state. No one should have to face mental health struggles alone, and families deserve compassion, connection, and guidance when they need it most.
Thank you for supporting my walk. Every gift—of any size—helps keep these vital services available. If you’re able, please consider donating today.
