Support My Journey to Team USA – and Beyond
My Story
I have always loved the water. My mom called me "the water baby". I started out as a competitive swimmer at 6 yrs old. I was good at it, and I enjoyed it, but COVID shut down my swim club. One day a neighbor told me that his grandkids played water polo. He described it as "swimming with a ball". I was intrigued. I had never heard of water polo before. I joined splashball at 9.5 yrs old to try it out. I decided it was way more fun that just swimming!!! At 10.5 I joined the local water polo club team and they needed a goalie, so I jumped in to help, and I loved it. It was a perfect fit for me. I developed my skills quickly as it all made sense. Unfortunately, I hit a plateau. The local club was struggling to get players for 12u, so we didn't have a team anymore. I couldn't progress unless I moved clubs. It was a huge commitment. I have to drive an hour each way to training, several days a week for practice, often getting home after 10pm. My parents said they would support me as long as my home life and studies weren't affected. I really wanted this, so I continued to help out at home and maintain straight A's while simultaneously pushing myself and improving my skills as a goalie. My family and carpool friends are a huge support and I couldn't do it without them. It isn't always easy, but I want to be pushed because I want to see how far my grit, developing skills and desire to improve will take me.
Why I Love Water Polo
I love water polo because it just feeds into my core personality. Being in the water feels so natural to me. I have a competitive nature and I love pushing past my limits by learning new techniques and skills. I love the camaraderie and bonding with my teammates. I love how we collectively help each other to do better, and BE better. I love the challenges of facing stronger teams and learning from the different coaches. Seriously, the question should be---- what is there NOT to love?
Why Your Support Matters
Being selected to be part of ODP and NTSC is an amazing privilege because I get the opportunity to train with the best coaches and players. As part of this journey, I’m raising support to help fund training, coaching, and development opportunities – both for me and for other athletes working toward their goals. Your support directly helps make opportunities like this possible.
Looking Ahead
This page will stay with me throughout the 2026 ODP season, including NTSC and future Pipeline experiences. If I’m selected for additional training camps or international competitions, I’ll continue updating my journey here as I work toward the next level.
