Deborah Lynn Hooper was a deeply respected civic and business leader whose professional life reflected an unwavering commitment to strengthening Greensboro and improving the health and vitality of its community. Deborah served on the Cone Health Board of Trustees from 2009 to 2018, including three years as Board Chair, guiding the system through a period of significant transformation and growth. During her tenure, she played a critical role in advancing Cone Health’s mission amid healthcare reform, executive leadership transition, and system expansion, and was widely admired for her collaborative leadership and steady counsel.

Equally impactful was Deborah’s leadership within the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce. She served as a board member and treasurer prior to becoming President of the Chamber, and later Chief Operating Officer, helping guide the organization through rebranding and growth during a pivotal era for the city’s economic and civic development. Her work strengthened partnerships among business, government, healthcare, and education, reinforcing Greensboro’s position as a vibrant and forward‑looking community.
