Why I Walk

My best friend and cousin developed Postpartum Preeclampsia in November 2023. Watching her go through that experience really hurt our family, so we immediately jumped to support in any way that we could. Attending the promise walk that following year was only just the beginning. 

Flash forward to the end of 2024, to after I gave birth to my first child. My second day home from the hospital, I was pale, swollen and very lightheaded. Teresa (not even my doctors) reminded me to monitor my blood pressure after everything that she had went through. Thank god for her! My blood pressure was ver the 140/90 range. We immediately went to the emergency room, leaving our 4 day old baby at home. 

Adter everything that's happened, I'm honored to be the 2026 Promise Walk Co-Chair with the women who has supported me throughout this entire journey. Our goal moving forward with the help of the Preeclampsia Foundation is to continue to spread awareness so no mother has to experience what we did and no baby has to fear losing a mother.
