I walk as a two time postpartum preeclampsia survivor because knowledge saves lives.
In 2019, during the final weeks of my pregnancy with my firstborn, I shared concerns about alarming symptoms I was experiencing. I was told everything was fine. One week after giving birth to my son, I suffered a stroke and almost died. The cause was undiagnosed postpartum preeclampsia.
Three years later, after welcoming my daughter, postpartum preeclampsia returned just six days after delivery. This time, I recognized the warning signs and was able to get help in time.
What should have been the happiest moments of my life became the most terrifying. I walk so no other mother is dismissed or unaware. I am grateful to still be here and committed to spreading awareness so more moms can be too.
