Why I Walk

I walk because preeclampsia changed my life- not once, but three times. 

Preeclampsia is a serious pregnancy complication characterized by high blood pressure.  It can develop suddenly, often without warning and can quickly becoming life-threatening for both mother and baby.  Every year, countless families experience the fear, uncertainty and heartbreak that this disease can bring.  

As a three-time survivor, I know firsthand how quickly a joyful pregnancy can become a medical emergency.  My experiences have given me a deep appreciation for the healthcare providers, researchers, and advocates working to find a cure. 

I walk because no family should have to face this disease. I walk to honor every family whose story has been impacted by preeclampsia. I walk to raise awareness, support research and help fund the discoveries that will one day lead to better prevention, earlier detection, improved treatment and A CURE!

Every step I take is for hope.  Every mile is the for the next mother!
