This walk is something so close to my heart. Never in a million years would I have thought I'd get preeclampsia with my first pregnancy. But I did. Preeclampsia doesn't discriminate. It can happen to any woman during pregnancy or postpartum. It does not care if you take care of yourself or if you never had health issues. I had my daughter at 25 weeks pregnant, she weighed just 1lb 5 oz. I never got maternity pictures or newborn photos. Instead we got constant monitoring separation (NICU & Maternal care). No skin to skin. I didn't get to hold my daughter for almost a month. I wasn't informed of preeclampsia or the warning signs. It wasn't until I had already been struggling and put on blood pressure medication that they even brought it up to me. I wish I new more about it when I became pregnant. I thought because I was young and healthy I had nothing to worry about. I understand they don't want people to worry about the "what ifs" when you become pregnant. But, don't you think we should be warned that this could happen? There needs to be more education on preeclampsia. Women should be aware of the warning signs and know that this diagnosis does not care how young or healthy you are. I am walking to raise awareness any donation is appreciated. No amount is too small. If you can not donate, please share to help me raise awareness!
