Three months prior to Mayah's due date, I was diagnosed with severe preeclampsia. In order to save both Mayah and myself, I delivered three days after being admitted to the hospital. Mayah spent 104 days in the NICU, fighting infections, lung disease and countless other feats. Today Mayah is growing and healthy, but our family is still affected by preeclampsia. My uses a feeding tube to eat a year later, and I am still battling high blood pressure. We walk because we want to work to find a cure to help other pregnant mothers and children.
