In 2003, excited and pregnant with our fiest baby I had never heard of preeclampsia. Until May 23. When I called my Dr for a horrible headache that would not go away. I had just had a checkup 12 hours prior. My BP was elevated. I was brought into the hospital even shocking the dr how much had changed in those 12 hours. A few hours and test after I arrived my dr came in and told me, you will be here until you deliver. I said i wasnt due til mid August. He told me i would not make it til August, most likely not July and the goal was to June as I had developed preeclampsia. .... it was May 23rd. I was admitted and kept in a dark quiet room. No visitors except my husband and parents. No phone ringer, no tv..... and then 4 days later I was being wheeled into the OR. My BP was so high and I became so sick. I delivered at 27 weeks my first miracle Kailey. She was just 2 pounds and taken to the nicu. I was taken to recovery. I have no memories of her first days of life. This is reason #1 why we walk and raise awareness for preeclampsia. I was told i went into severe preeclampsia.
Fast forward to 2007. Excited again to be pregnant.... but this time so much fear. Every headache was a call to my dr.... he was amazing with me. Unfortunately around the same time I started to show signs of preeclampsia. I was put on bedrest. This time n I got to 33 weeks. I thought I'm doing it! I will have memories. Then bamm.... sickness got worse. I was admitted for a 3rd time of this pregnancy to the hospital. This time I would be there until I delivered. Test were ran and things came back bad. I went from severe preeclampsia to HELLP and needed to deliver. I was devestated but thought I have memories right now.... I get to experience this birth.... nope! Due to the HELLP, I would need to be put under for a safer delivery chance. They feared paralysis risk duento blood clotting times. I was devestated. Addison was delivered at 33 weeks. 3 # 15oz. This is reason #2 we raise awareness.
