We walk for Juliette.

Our daughter, she fought with all the might of the lion to survive when the placenta was no longer giving her what she needed. Juliette is our first born, Marie-Laure was diagnosed at 24 weeks with preeclampsia with severe features and our daughter, Juliette, had intra uterine growth restriction (IUGR) and measured in the 1st percentile. Marie-Laure was hospitalized and responded well to the medication, we hoped she could stay pregnant and give our daughter a chance to grow. Unfortunately, a week later, her health was deteriorating quickly and the placenta was no longer bringing the blood and oxygen that Juliette needed. We had to make painful decisions regarding our daughter's care. Marie-Laure was induced to save her life, sadly Juliette died during labor. A week later, we learned that preeclampsia had further damaged her body, Marie-Laure was diagnosed with peripartum cardiomyopathy (pregnancy induced heart failure). With help from an incredible medical team she was able to physically recover from heart failure and and healed from the damage of preeclampsia.

We walk because we strongly believe research is the path to finding a cure that doesn't require delivery for this devastating disease.

We walk so no one will have to walk the same path as us.
