Hi I am Brianna!
For those of you that have seen me from the start of my journey, I am now a Freshman in college, living away from my RI home! I'm working on a double major, currently on a dance team, volunteering, meeting new friends and navigating my life on campus! It is an incredible experience for me!
However, my journey started when I was 18 months old and I began having mini myclonic seizures. They started increasing, evolving and became an everyday occurrence throughout my life.I struggled at school and has to change or cancel activities. It had been a real struggle, with challenges everyday. The Epilepsy Foundation of New England, family school and neighborhood friends have been a great support!
Along with help of my awesome Neurologist, (The famous Dr. Gaitanis) and for the first time since I was 18 months old, my seizures started to decrease about 5 years ago! I no longer have them everyday. I had a few more generalized seizures that have been pretty traumatic. I now have a taste of freedom and am able to ride my bike, walk downstairs without a chaperone, reduce medicine that has had so many side effects. But, the fight is not over. I still deal with the after effects from the years that the seizures turned my life upside down in a variety of ways. However, there is HOPE for you and me and everyone dealing struggling with epilepsy and I won't give up supporting this important cause!
The support I receive from the Epilepsy Foundation of New England has helped me get through these tough years. They have provided me with support for college, camps that are so meaningful and friends that I love and relate to. Any donations to this wonderful Foundation can help me and other people to continue to receive this amazing support.
