I am Madison and I serve as the Program Manager for Reach Out and Read Indiana, a program of the Indiana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. I have overseen the program since 2019, and throughout my career I have worked to advance early childhood initiatives that strengthen families and support children from the very beginning.
I have the privilege of doing this work alongside some of the most dedicated and compassionate pediatricians across the state of Indiana.
While working in this field, I also became a parent myself. I now have three young children — ages 2, 4, and 5 — and I’ve been able to see firsthand the magic that happens when books become part of a child’s daily life. The moments of connection, imagination, and learning that happen during story time are incredibly powerful.
I believe that every child deserves access to the resources and opportunities that help them grow, learn, and thrive, no matter where they begin.
Through Reach Out and Read Indiana, pediatric providers give children a brand-new book at every well-child visit from birth through age five while also modeling for caregivers how reading aloud supports language development, strengthens parent-child connection, and builds early learning skills.
For many families, this may be the only new book in the home.
As a 2026 Champion for Literacy, I am raising $5,000 to help expand this work across Indiana, ensuring more children leave their doctor’s visit with a book in hand and a stronger foundation for school and life.
Just $2.50 provides one book to a child. My goal is to raise $5,000, enough to provide 2,000 books for children across Indiana.
Thank you for being part of this work and helping ensure that every child has the opportunity to grow up surrounded by books.
If you are able, I hope you will consider making a gift and sharing this page with others who believe every child deserves a book.
