I've seen firsthand how powerful a shared reading moment can be — both through my work and in my own family. I hope you enjoy the pictures of my family members reading! I feel lucky to give my daughters, nieces, nephews, and extended family the gift of reading at every opportunity. Is there any better gift than a book? Reach Out and Read helps by placing books into pediatric visits and encouraging families to read together from the very beginning. It's a simple idea with a lasting impact, and I'm honored to help make it possible.
When I give a book to my patients in the office, they often bring it back for entertainment at the next visit. My patients are thrilled to have books that are their own to love, chew on, memorize, and read again and again! Many families have share that the books they receive at our visits are the first, or only, books in their home libraries. Reach Out and Read helps ensure that EVERY CHILD experiences the joy of reading, feels the connection that it brings with their caregivers, and develops lifelong skills that from early literacy.
