Students attend three 45 minute workshops, plus a career panel on STEM related topics. Exposure to the possibility of careers in STEM fields and potential mentors. Information about post-secondary career pathways and coursework that may be available in high school and in college. 

The STEM Conference is for students in grades 4th - 9th!

About BGC Mercer:

Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County provides young people ages 5-18, with educational, social, and recreational activities. Our programs, offered after school and over the summer, focus on combatting the education gap and teaching youth to develop social and leadership skills. Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.

Forensic Science - Step into the world of forensic science! Learn how polygraphs detect physiological responses and uncover the science behind detecting lies.  
NASA IMAP - Explore the groundbreaking IMAP mission! Investigate how energetic particles are accelerated and how the solar wind interacts with interstellar gas and dust—complete with a hands-on project.  
Phytoplankton:  The Jewels of the Delaware - Explore the tiny but mighty world of phytoplankton! Learn about their diversity in the Delaware River and their important role in the food chain while collecting and examining real samples.  
SENSE - ational Skin Science - Explore the science of skincare! Test out popular lotions and cleansers while learning how scientists measure texture, scent, and other qualities that make products work.  
Star Power on Earth: The Science of Fusion Energy - Explore how energy powers our world! Learn about solar, chemical, mechanical, and nuclear energy, plus concepts like electricity, magnetism, light, and states of matter—complete with fun, hands-on demonstrations.  
The Assembly Line - Experience the full process of building air conditioners and furnaces!  Participate in IT, engineering, assembly, and testing to see how these systems come to life.  
The Diagnostic Detectives - Explore the world of medical laboratory science! Collect specimens, test urine, examine blood cells, type blood, and study microorganisms while gaining hands-on lab skills like pipetting, microscopy, and diagnosing disorders. 
Thermochromic Slime - Get hands-on with polymers—the amazing molecules behind slime and so much more. Learn how they work while creating your own stretchy, squishy science!  
What is a Neuropsychologist? - Discover the fascinating world of neuropsychology! Explore the training, skills, and everyday responsibilities that make these brain experts so important.
