CIS-SA Stuff The Bus School Supply Drive

The Communities In Schools of San Antonio annual Stuff The Bus School Supply Drive helps ensure students across San Antonio and surrounding communities start the school year prepared—and stay supported all year long.

Each backpack, notebook, and pencil represents more than a supply—it’s a connection. A connection to confidence in the classroom. A connection to opportunity. A connection to a community that shows up.

As back-to-school costs continue to rise, many families face difficult choices, and too many students begin the year without the tools they need. Together, we can change that.

We invite your company, organization, or group to be part of the solution. When we come together, every connection counts—and every student benefits.

Join us in supporting local students through Stuff The Bus 2026.
With three easy ways to get involved, you can make a meaningful impact and help students start strong and stay on track.

About Communities In Schools of San Antonio (CIS-SA)

Working directly in over 130 schools across 15 school districts in 6 counties, CIS-SA builds relationships that empower students to stay in school and succeed in life.  Our school-based staff partner with teachers to identify challenges students face in class or at home and coordinate with community partners to bring outside resources inside schools. From immediate needs like food or clothing to more complex ones like counseling or emotional support, we do whatever it takes to help students succeed.

Three Ways to Support Stuff The Bus

You may participate in one or more ways!

1. Collect School Supplies In Person

Invite your network to donate supplies by placing a collection bin in your office! A backpack, notepad, or package of markers goes a long way for our kids. We'll provide you with a list of most requested school supply items. Collection drives may begin in June and must conclude by Wednesday, July 29. All collected supplies will need to be dropped off to a designated location on Thursday, July 30.

Note: This is for organized corporate/civic drives. We only accept donations from individual community members on Saturday, August 1 at participating H-E-B locations.

2. Raise Funds Online

Want to get your company or organization involved? Register and receive a unique fundraising page link to share with your colleagues, customers, or others in your network. Funds collected will be used to purchase necessary supplies for each campus. As a Team Captain or Team Member, you will engage & inspire others to give. We have pre-set templates you can use for emails and social media which can be found on the Fundraising Toolkit page We make it easy for our team captains! Last day to raise funds: Tuesday, August 25 at 11:59 p.m.

3. Volunteer on Stuff The Bus Day (Saturday, August 1, 2026 @ Local H-E-B)

On Saturday, August 1, 2026, CIS-SA staff and volunteers will invite H-E-B customers to join the cause and donate supplies as part of their shopping experience. Volunteers will serve at a participating H-E-B locations to cover a 9:00- 5:00 p.m. shift.  Register your group using the "Register" link on the menu bar. For over 30 years, the Communities In Schools of San Antonio Stuff The Bus (STB) School Supply Drive has helped thousands of students and families in need.  During the 2026 - 2027 school year, the STB supplies will be distributed to over 130 schools in San Antonio and surrounding areas (elementary-high school) across 15 school districts in 6 counties.  This allows all students at each campus to have access to free school supplies throughout the school year. Each time you participate in the Stuff The Bus School Supply Drive, you entrust Communities In Schools of San Antonio to direct your gifts to where they are needed most. This includes, but is not limited to, the purchase of school supplies, technology, and uniforms needed by our students.
