Team Carson was formed in loving memory of our son, Carson Gage Arreola. Our family's experience with blood cancer was brief and devasting. Carson was 6.5 years old and about to graduate kindergarten when he came down with a case of strep throat. After a week of antibitotics, he was still running a low grade fever so we went back to the pediatrician for a different type of antibiotic. When those antibitocs didn't seem to be working, we took Carson to urgent care. When the urgent care blood machine had trouble reading Carson's high white blood cell count, we were quickly sent to St. Rose ER. It was there we learned that Carson most likely had leukemia. Carson was rushed to Sunrise Hospital to be placed on dialysis. He was placed under anesthesia for port placement and would never wake up again. On May 16, 2016 Carson was officially diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Those few days in the hospital were filled with numerous medical procedures to try and save Carson's life. Ultimately, at 2:58p on May 18, 2016, our little boy took his last breath in our arms.
Carson had an amazing spirit full of light and laughter. He was a social butterfly who loved people. He was a fun and loving big brother to Mason and Kinsey and loved nothing more than making them both laugh. He had a love of Tigger, dinosaurs, monster trucks, art, baseball, biking, and swimming. His smile and zest for life were contagious. We miss our sweet boy and continue to honor his memory through our work with Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation. Candlelighters was there for our family during the worst time of our lives. They offer support to childhood cancer families in Las Vegas. Our greatest wish is that someday, no parent will have to suffer the loss of a child to cancer.
Team Carson has been graciously supported by so many over the years. Thank you for helping us remember our angel boy and ensuring his memory lives on! We love you all!
