I’m running the New York City Marathon this fall! This is my second and FINAL marathon. I decided to run this race because, as a New Yorker, the marathon is so iconic, and I also want to celebrate 150 years of an organization near and dear to my heart, The Legal Aid Society.
The Legal Aid Society is the nation’s largest defense and civil legal services provider. In New York, they work in service of the mission that no New Yorker should be denied the right to equal justice. The LAS provides pro bono legal services and representation to low-income New Yorkers in civil, criminal, and juvenile cases, and the number of people they’re able to help is astounding. Through my years on the board, I’ve seen the impact the LAS can have on people’s lives and truly believe in their mission.
Here’s how you can help. To celebrate the LAS’s 150th anniversary, I’m aiming to raise $15,000 from 150 donors. I’m a competitive person and love a challenge, so I’ll be racing against myself too. If I do beat my record, I will match up to $15,000 in gifts I’ve raised for the LAS.
