I am so excited to be running my first marathon with Erika's Lighthouse! Running the Chicago Marathon has always been a goal of mine, and I am so lucky to have the opportunity to do it with a charity that is personal to me. I first learned about Erika's Lighthouse in high school through their depression education and suicide awareness classroom discussion. Having experienced childhood depression myself, I felt as if this program helped de-stigmatize depression and increase mental health awareness among my peers. I know firsthand how isolating depression is and how impactful intervention can be. My experience fueled my future career aspirations, and I am now pursuing a doctorate in psychology with an emphasis in children and adolescents. Through my doctoral training so far, I am able to better recognize that early education in depression and suicide awareness can contribute to ensuring that no student has to navigate their mental health journey alone. Thank you for considering donating to my marathon fundraiser in support of Erika's Lighthouse.
