My connection to Parkinson's disease is deeply personal. My father lived with Parkinson's, and I witnessed firsthand the challenges our family faced. Throughout his journey, my mother, Hettie Molvang, became his devoted caregiver. She understood that no family should have to face Parkinson's alone and made it her mission to grow the Parkinson's Network North support group, creating a community where people living with Parkinson's and their care partners could find support, education, and hope.

When my mother passed away in 2024, I knew I wanted to continue the work that meant so much to her. Carrying forward her mission is one way I can honor both of my parents and help ensure that other families have the same sense of community and support that she worked so hard to build.

That is why I proudly support the Michigan Parkinson Foundation. The funds raised through our events help ensure that no person living with Parkinson's in Michigan and no family navigating this disease is without access to quality care, education, and support.

The need for these services continues to grow. The Michigan Parkinson Foundation's respite care program has expanded from providing $10,000 in assistance to families in 2018 to more than $283,000 in support and 13,885 hours of respite care for 176 families in 2024. More than 13,500 individuals have participated in exercise classes, and 2,116 people have benefited from educational programs offered throughout the state.

These numbers represent families who receive a much needed break, individuals who find strength through exercise, and caregivers who discover they are not alone. Every contribution helps continue this important work and allows us to build on the legacy my mother began.
