The United States government committed more than $300 million through the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) to support two landmark lymphatic programs: LIGHT (Lymphatic Imaging, Genomics, and pHenotyping Technologies), focused on improving diagnosis, monitoring, imaging, and understanding of lymphatic dysfunction; and GLIDE (Groundbreaking Lymphatic Interventions and Drug Exploration), focused on advancing new therapeutic approaches that target abnormal lymphatic structure and function.
This marked the first large-scale federal investment dedicated to lymphatic science and was the direct result of LE&RN’s sustained community advocacy.
To highlight this historic moment, Dr. Stanley G. Rockson of Stanford University and the Lymphatic Education & Research Network (LE&RN) hosted the Virtual Lymphatic Summit: Lymphatic Research Horizons – The Dawn of a New Era on Friday, June 19, 2026. The event featured the research teams leading the LIGHT and GLIDE programs, along with key leaders including William Repicci (LE&RN) and ARPA-H Program Manager Dr. Kimberley E. Steele.
The summit was a pivotal event for the entire LE&RN community. For patients and caregivers, it provided a meaningful opportunity to help shape how new technologies and therapies are developed from the outset. For clinicians and therapists, it delivered early insight into emerging tools and how they may be integrated into patient care. For researchers, it offered visibility into priorities, collaboration opportunities, and the future direction of the field.
