When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in early 2019, everything changed in an instant. Fortunately, I was surrounded by love and support. I even had a wonderful medical team. Yet, like many others do, I felt very alone. Cancer changed the way I moved through and saw the world, and that was very hard to express to everyone around me. Once my hair started growing back, color came back to my complexion, and I didn’t have daily and weekly appointments, I was fine - right? 
The first time in walked into Wellness House it felt like a big, warm hug. The love I felt is through everyone who volunteers and works there, and is in all those who walk through the doors seeking comfort because of a cancer diagnosis. I got a wig, participated in events, and took several meditation programs. Just being there, I didn’t have to be “fine”, and I didn’t feel alone anymore. 
Wellness House picks up where medical teams leave off. Our focus is psychosocial, meaning making sure that one’s overall well-being is addressed and nourished.
