In August 2021 I was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer (it's still surreal to me to write those words about myself). I was terrified---as my mind immediately went back to the memory of my own mother's journey with breast cancer exactly 40 years before came front-and-center to my mind. She died from it at the young age of 54 and I was only 18. My good friend Terry S., a cancer survivor himself, told me about Wellness House and how they could help me in my journey. Fast forward to April 2026. My journey was nothing like my Mom's, thankfully, and Wellness House has been there for me every step of the way. 

My cancer was found very early via routine screening mammogram, and I got very lucky--no chemo and no radiation. In November I'll be taking the LAST of the medication I've been on to prevent breast cancer from recurring, and I'll officially be a 5-year breast cancer survivor. (WOO HOO!!!!)

Wellness House provides complete cancer care - every step of the way. Whether you have cancer, or you are caring for a friend or family member who is diagnosed with cancer, all are welcome at Wellness House. More than 520 programs are provided each month, both online and in person, to improve physical and emotional well-being and give people with cancer a support network like no other. 

Because of the Walk, and the generous donations of individuals and businesses, everything at Wellness House is provided free of charge, providing one less thing to worry about when struggling with a cancer. I've walked for Wellness House these 5 years to raise money for them so that patients like me and my family don't have to pay anything for their services, and I'm joined the Walk again this year and I'm asking you to join me in giving what you can to support people in the fight for their lives.
