Hello! My name is Sanika Bedse, and I am a sophomore Neuroscience student at UT Austin. I am so honored and grateful to be a member of the Texas 4000 for Cancer 2027 Ride Team!
My journey with cancer started by volunteering in a hospice home. I saw firsthand that cancer is never just a diagnosis for one person. It impacts entire families. I've sat beside patients in their final moments, where words often fall short. I've seen the quiet strength of caregivers navigating uncertainty, balancing love with exhaustion, and doing everything they can to support someone they may not be ready to lose. In those moments, I learned that care lives in small moments of connection and compassion.
Cancer is an illness that does not discriminate. It reaches across age, background, and circumstance, leaving no one untouched. But fighting cancer requires more than research and medical treatments; it demands a community that supports both patients and the people who stand beside them. That is why I ride: to honor those I've met, to support the families who carry this burden, and to be part of a future where no one faces cancer alone.
As I bike 4000+ miles to Alaska in Summer 2027, I'll carry with me the stories of patients and families I've learned from. Each challenging mile will be a tribute to their resilience and a reminder of why this mission matters. If there is someone in your life who has been affected by cancer, I would be honored to hear your story and carry your strength forward. Please feel free to reach out to me at sanikabedse@utexas.edu.
Every donation and every shared story changes what the next family experiences when cancer enters their life. Here's how you can help:
- Donate: Contribute whatever you can. No amount is too small!
- Spread the Word: Share my fundraising page with your friends, family, and social networks. Let’s spread awareness so we can raise more!
Thank you for standing by me in this effort. Your support means the world to me!
To Alaska and back,
Sanika Bedse
