Over the next 18 months, our team will be undergoing rigorous physical training, volunteering in the community, and fundraising. It all leads up to the summer of 2027, when we will get on our bikes and ride more than 4,000 miles from Austin, Texas, all the way to Anchorage, Alaska.
It sounds wild, and it is, but the real focus of this journey is to fight cancer. Along the way, we share knowledge about cancer prevention, bring hope to communities affected by the disease, and raise money for life-saving cancer research and support services.
Why I’m Riding
I’m an EMT. My whole job is about showing up and making people feel better. A few months ago, I lifted a cancer patient onto a stretcher, and there was one feeling that I just couldn't get out of my head that night.
Just how painfully light she was. And how powerless I was in that moment to do anything.
That’s what this disease does, it just takes and takes, from patients, and the people who love them.
Texas 4000 is my answer. Next summer, I’ll bike 4000 miles over 70 days from Austin to Alaska. Since 2004, when a cancer survivor founded this organization, Texas 4000 has grown into the longest annual charity bike ride in North America and has raised over $7 million toward cancer research and support.
We are living in the most hopeful moment in cancer research history, and rides like this are part of why. So I ask you: If you can't ride, donate. If you can't donate, please, take the time to share this.
How You Can Help
To be able to make the trip to Alaska, each rider has a goal to raise at least $7,500 to support cancer research and patient care. If you are able to support me, here is how you can help:
-
Donate: Any amount helps, whether it's $5 or $50. You can also look into the "Sponsor-a-Bike" program on this site!
-
Spread the Word: If you can’t donate right now, sharing this page with your friends, family, or on social media means just as much.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and for supporting me as I start this 18-month journey. I really appreciate you standing by me!
Best, Sreeram
