Hey y’all, I'm LiLi! In the summer of 2027, I will be biking over 4,000 miles from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska as a part of Texas 4000’s mission to engage communities in the fight to end cancer.
Cancer is never an individual experience. When my high school strength and conditioning coach passed away to cancer, I experienced first hand the reverberating effects cancer can have on an entire community.
But I also saw how, in the face of such devastation, the athletics community was able to come together and take care of one another. Ultimately, our community was able organize multiple blood drives to honor our coach's legacy of strength and compassion. I ride with Texas 4000 with the goal of building upon and honoring that resilience.
As a lifelong athlete, I have always been able to turn to sports as a way of overcoming struggles and challenges that I've faced. As such, I am excited to in turn use sport to make an impact on the lives of others. Through Texas 4000, I will be involved in advocacy and cancer prevention activities, in addition to fundraising for cancer research, patient support services, and the logistics of our 4,000+ mile journey across North America.
It is my hope that this bike ride will spark hope, foster community, and remind those impacted by cancer that they are not alone.
If there is someone in your life who has been impacted by cancer, I would be honored to ride in their name. Please feel free to share their story with me by texting or emailing me!
Any donation large or small will help advance Texas 4000's mission. I am truly so grateful for your support as I embark on this journey and begin my training.
To Alaska and back,
LiLi
